School & Library Visits

Still a teacher at heart, Donna loves to encourage children and adults, for that matter, to write.  The following are one-hour Classroom Workshops for Children:

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR STORY IDEAS, START WITH A POEM for grades K – 2
Using poetry to inspire story ideas and jump-start their imaginations, students create simple stories.

LET’S WRITE A PICTURE BOOK for grades 3 – 5
Using themselves as the main character and an animal, bird, or even an insect (wild or domestic) that visits the area around their home or apartment building, students will develop a picture book story with a beginning, middle and end.

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS for grades 6 – 8
Anyone can write a story that draws a reader in if they use details that make the world of the story seem real. That’s why writers spend much time looking and listening. They notice things.

Donna is also happy to tailor a presentation to a teacher or librarian’s specific needs.
